Kay Green Design – Silver Winner at the 2008 International Builders Show’s National Awards
Kay Green Design’s merchandising expertise was a hot commodity at the 2008 International Builders Show (IBS) in Orlando, Florida. In addition to being honored at the Nationals Awards as a Silver and Regional winner of the Best Interior Merchandising of a Model Priced $1 Million to $2 Million, Kay Green Design presented their award-winning interior design ideas on a grand total of five educational programs throughout the week.

Interior design guru, Kay Green, joined industry colleagues Thursday morning for “The Brunch Bunch Presents the Latest in Design Trends.” Green shared her company’s latest designs within four consumer groups, each cleverly categorized as a different favorite coffee drink – urban and edgy small space designs were labeled as a “Triple Shot Espresso” whereas luxury family buyers were categorized as a “Mocha Frapuccino.” Kay Green’s mastery of target marketing in model homes, clubhouses and sales center design added significant value to the “highly-caffeinated” Brunch Bunch program.
“It’s especially important in a down housing market,” Green said, “for builders to differentiate themselves from their competition. Interior merchandising targeted to the community’s buyers is one of the most effective marketing tools builders can use to increase their sales.” The Brunch Bunch program, complete with hot coffee and fresh bagels provided for attendees, was a big success!
Friday morning also proved inspiring for builders who attended Green’s “108 Marketing Ideas for 2008” in the Convention Center’s grand auditorium. This high-energy 90 minute session included significantly more that the promised 108 marketing ideas. Kay Green demonstrated the latest and greatest in interior finishes and products that will “wow” today’s educated consumer and drive new home sales.
-EnviroGLAS Countertop Surface-
“EnviroGLAS now provides new countertops, floor tiles and terrazzo flooring products made from recycled tubs, glass, sinks and toilets. These products are an excellent response to the recent interest in sustainable living,” Green explained, then jokingly admitted, “While Kay Green Design would love to take credit for inspiring the new Green Building trend, we actually didn’t start it!” The “108 Marketing Ideas for 2008” session was so popular, Green and her co-panelists presented it again on Saturday morning.
In addition to Green’s education programs, Kay Green Design’s Ashley Jennings debuted as a speaker at the International Builder’s Show with two additional speaker sessions. Jennings combined her industry research with her personal experience as a member of today’s younger generation of home buyers to present the latest interior design trends for Generations X and Y. The design program, “Generation X Looking for Relaxed Living,” presented on Wednesday morning, was both highly-attended and well received. One attendee later commented, “I learned more in the GenX program than in any of the others I attended.”
Friday morning, Ashley Jennings and her co-speaker presented “Amazing Spaces,” a creative interpretation of model homes, sales centers and design studios as a retail shopping experience.
Using Kay Green Design’s latest portfolio of design work, Jennings demonstrated how to create model home, clubhouse and sales center interior merchandising to appeal to home buyers’ desires for relaxation, adventure, social community and individual style.
“One great way to conjure emotions of social community is with a billiards room and full wet bar,” explained Jennings, “Merchandising a bonus space as a sports den allows the buyer to envision themselves entertaining friends at a Super Bowl party in their new home. Ultimately, this emotion drives the sale.”
Despite such a busy schedule at the International Builders Show, Kay Green Design is ready for more! Kay Green and Ashley Jennings can be found at the podium of Atlanta’s upcoming Southern Builders Show in June and at Orlando’s South East Builders Conference in July.
